One helluva year !

Well, as Alice's mom is famous for saying with a twinkle in her eyes : - "And they said it wouldn't last..."

We just celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary with two very dear new friends atop one of the countless skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur at a bar quite aptly named "Heli" for the heli pad where we sat gaping at the sunset and surreal skyline right out of a sci fi flick !!!

The place is amazing.  44th floor.  You step out of the elevator into a funky bar with mod logos and old airplane seat booths, then head up a couple of flights of stairs and onto a helicopter pad.  No barriers other than a thin tape like the mazes for TSA, a smattering of tables, and the open sky.  After sunset, the thunderstorm rolled in and, with time, as the lightening strikes drew near, we were ushered back downstairs in the dark.

How could we possibly have imagined standing here... one year ago,

                                                                                                                 as we stood there !

What is in a year ?  What a fantastic quantity of time... piling up day after day, until it adds up to a boggling array of moments that are bundled into a tidy package of memories... One year !  Yet they continue to pile up, and we begin blurring the infinite experiences into a lifetime filled with images and emotions...

As Alice and I combine more and more of our moments together, we thrill at the space of our lives, evidenced by all we did apart, with long known family and friends, raising kids, traveling far and wide - and it brings us here, as we explore our "new" life together... One year - full of love and gratitude for each other - hungry to fill the time to come with more of the same... It really has been one helluva year !
